Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House’s coronavirus task force, will join Gov. Jared Polis in giving an update on Colorado’s response to the pandemic on Tuesday.
Polis, who recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus, gives regular briefings on COVID-19, sometimes remotely and sometimes in person. Tuesday’s virtual news conference with Fauci will begin at 12 p.m.
As of Monday, 1,834 patients were hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 in Colorado and about 79% of intensive-care beds were in use across the state.
Polis went into isolation last week after learning he had been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. On Saturday night, the governor’s office announced Polis and his husband Marlon Reis both had tested positive and were “asymptomatic, feeling well, and will continue to isolate in their home.”
“Marlon and I are feeling well so far, and are in good spirits,” Polis said in a statement.
